What will she not spit out or gag on?

my little girl is 8 months nd i heard i'm supposed to be giving her table food by now but when ever i try giving her things she'll gag nd spit it out and refuse to eat. i have tried giving her chicken soup with veggies, and other meats like turkey and beef but she just doesn't want it. she doesn't seem to be getting ful on gerber anymore though. what can i do so that she'll start to want to eat other things.
