If we persecute smoking, why not drinking as well?

i don't like smoking or drinking or drug use or anything like that. but it's unconstitutional to ban any of them, in my opinion. people should be free to make their own decisions concerning how they want to kill themselves (lol) or anything else for that matter. but the reason they haven't tried (in a while) to ban alcohol is because when people are drinking themselves into a stupor, they are less likely to overthrow the government. that's why in the ussr, even when there was no food, there was always vodka.
